Prayer of Wonder

All-loving God,

I am filled with wonder when I consider the power of your Spirit. You create the billions of galaxies with trillions of stars. You formed the earth into a garden that nourishes the plentiful species of life. You loved me into existence and cared for me as I grew into womanhood. It was you who prepared my body, mind, and soul for the miracle of conception.

You are present, knitting together all the delicate parts of the new life I carry within me. My body intuits your artistry as you sculpt tiny cells into hands, feet, inner organs, brain, and heart. You have made my body, mind, and spirit into a sacred vessel that even now is creating an awesome masterpiece-a unique expression of your goodness, beauty, and truth. Together we share this thrilling experience that you initiate, nurture, and bring to fullness. How I marvel at this precious gift of your love!

Help me, Lord, to enter the mystery unfolding deep within my womb. Allow me to accept this gift with wonder and excitement. Permit me to relish the life I carry as it grows and changes me. I freely give you my body, mind, and spirit as my unique gift to our child.

Amen.

I’m 13 Weeks Old!

We had our second ultrasound at 13 weeks (2/8/07). The doctor let us get one "just for the fun of it;" she's cool :) It's amazing how quickly our "little one" is developing. At this point the baby was 6.35cm or about 3 1/2 inches long. The heart rate was 158 beats per minute.


You can clearly see the face (it almost looks like he/she is smiling!) You can also see both sets of fingers. The baby's hands were moving around a lot during the ultrasound. The doctor said it was almost like he/she was doing dance moves.


After a lot of moving around, the baby got tired out and fell asleep. The doctor tapped my belly and you could see the vibration up on the ultrasound screen. We got to watch as he/she woke back up.

13 Week Ultrasound

In this picture you can see how much bigger the baby's head is than the rest of his/her body at this stage. It almost looks like he/she is waving.

It's kind of hard to see this, but it is a picture of just the legs. You can see the two legs and the feet.

Week 13 ultrasound

This is a picture looking at the baby's back. You can see the back of the head with the two halves of the brain, an arm, the back ribs and the spine. The development is pretty amazing!

Our New Miracle

Here is our "Little Bean" or as we also called him/her... our "Little Shrimp." This was our first ultrasound that was taken on 1/8/07. The baby was about 8-9 weeks along at this point. We were able to see the heart beating and we could hear it. It was beating 178 beats per minute! I'm due between the 15th and 20th of August. The baby was actually sitting on his/her head during this ultrasound :) What a blessing, we're so excited!!
